I recently purchased a Gallicanne violin from Dan and I can highly recommend Dan and his company for a violin purchase. His Tone Color Wheel and Tone Evaluation Chart are an excellent way to get an understanding a the tone and response of a violin before you actually try it. In my case, the chart and wheel couldn't have been more accurate. I believe they are very honest and reasonable with their evaluations and not just trying to sell a violin. I also feel that their prices for their violins are quite reasonable.
Dan is very knowledgeable on the subject and prompt with answers to any questions you might have.
I highly recommend Select Violins to anyone considering a violin purchase.

Dan is the most trust worthy Man on the subject of Violins. Buy it , don't like it, within 6 months you get a trade in of full value!!In this day and time that is hard to come by. I know, I bought an E.J. Albert more than a year ago. Dan answers all my questions still. All I do is ask. If he doesn't know, he'll find out. Buy a violin and you'll have a friend for life. I think he is as true as the blue Wisconsin sky he sings about :)
Can't wait until I can afford to upgrade!!!!

b) pizzicato strings on g, d, a, e
